Objectives

To improve information security, in particular in the area of Anti Virus (AV) and malicious software, it would help to know from users about:

• what additional mechanisms (physical, personnel, electronic, organizational, legal) are required in support of the fundamental security objectives (confidentiality, integrity and availability)

• what weaknesses do users perceive in currently available solutions; and

• corresponding issues touching system security, like workflow, contingency planning, and organizational or legal issues.

While EAVEP represents applied research to solve business and AV-related issues it s, nvertheless, firmly grounded in science. The study program uses a deductive approach (looks at what we understand based on past research) to formulate the issues to be addressed. Research issues and propositions including hypotheses are formulated and will be tested to increase our understanding of the issues (e.g., relationship of attitudes with behaviors).
